Are you an active adult between ages 40 and 80 years old who don't mind walking for exercise? Are accumulating thousands of steps daily, but losing weight very slow; or nothing is happening at all? "My level of fitness and daily step count got a major push when we started having walking challenges. I couldn’t do very much at first. But after my competitive spirit kicked in, and I began to see that I could do more and make real progress in my step count, increased energy, and endurance, I continued to search for opportunities in my day to add in some steps. I still get tickled that whenever I am on a conference call (or even some Zoom meetings) I will now jog in place. I watch my recorded tv shows while I am steppin’. And I will dance around the house to upbeat music at the drop of a hat!
I am not a threat to the leaders in our current step challenge, but as I challenge myself, my health and I are big winners!"
" When the pandemic hit, Walter reached out to offer a virtual group training option to my son, and me, if I was interested... I'm a "gym rat," but not a group workout person at all... but I figured, why not!. Well, 3 years later, I'm still with WLFS Virtual Boot Camp regularly!... I like the fact that I get the benefit of a dedicated, innovative coach who's always looking for ways to keep things interesting, to challenge us, and to keep us motivated to keep moving and healthy. It's also fun to be part of a group of like-minded, fun people but still be able to work out in the privacy of my own home, or in a quiet spot somewhere in my gym.
Walter also sets up various group challenges on an regular basis... The Walking challenges he sets up are one of my favorites, because these motivate me to push myself, particularly on days when I just want to "take a break..." I love how the group all cheer each other on as well! Again, it's that sense of community we all need! ."
"The walking challenge was an eye opener for me. I was hesitant to enter the challenge for two reasons. One, I would have to commit for consecutive days of walking, even when I didn't feel like it. Second, I thought walking more daily was really NOT going to bring me results.
What I found was that consistent and increased movement per day is a game changer.
At the end of the challenge a miracle happened. I got on the scale, and I had lost weight! That’s when it hit me. The only thing I changed was to add enjoyable walks to my routine and it helped me break my plateau.
Every walking challenge that comes my way, I sign up for it. Moving more has become a huge part of my daily routine and I owe it all to Walter who convinced me to join that first walking challenge.
On vacation? Out with friends? Not a problem! I would just walk before and after, incorporating movement and still maintaining balance in my life and on my scale. Thank you, Walter, for making me a part of this new lifestyle!
